The 10 men of PEC Zwolle edged out FC Groningen 1-0 in the Eredivisie on Sunday afternoon.
Groningen had an early chance when Hans Hateboer was sent scampering through, but his effort was well saved by Zwolle goalkeeper Warner Hahn.
Maikel Kieftenbeld almost opened the scoring five minutes before the break, but Hahn was again equal to the effort.
The visitors took the lead on 74 minutes when Tomas Necid converted from close range.
Zwolle were forced to play the final few minutes with a man less when Thomas Lam was shown a red card, but hung on for the three points.
