Miroslav Klose breaks World Cup goalscoring record

Miroslav Klose breaks the World Cup goalscoring record, netting his 16th goal in the tournament's semi-final against Brazil.

Miroslav Klose has broken the all-time World Cup scoring record after netting for Germany against Brazil in Tuesday's semi-final in Belo Horizonte.

Klose put his country 2-0 up in the 23rd minute with his 16th World Cup goal in his fourth tournament, surpassing the 15 goals scored by Brazil's Ronaldo.

With 71 goals in 136 matches, Klose is also the top all-time Germany goalscorer, moving ahead of previous record holder Gerd Mueller.

The 36-year-old also scored in Germany's 2-2 draw with Ghana in a group match, coming off the bench to get Germany back into the contest.

Germany were 5-0 up after just 30 minutes of Tuesday's semi-final.
