Werner leads Germany line versus Spain

Germany boss Joachim Low has handed a start to striker Timo Werner for Friday's friendly international against Spain.

The RB Leipzig forward has netted 18 goals in all competitions this season, and the 22-year-old is given another opportunity to impress on the international scene.

With Manuel Neuer still out injured, Marc-Andre ter Stegen begins the game in goal, while Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller and Julian Draxler all feature in a star-studded attack.

As for Spain, Valencia frontman Rodrigo is given his fourth cap in attack, with Diego Costa and Iago Aspas having to make do with a place among the replacements.

Andres Iniesta plays in midfield at a time when the Barcelona legend is being linked with a switch to China, while David de Gea starts behind Spain's first-choice back four.

Germany: Ter Stegen; Hector, Hummels, Khedira, Draxler, Kroos, Ozil, Werner, Muller, Boateng, Kimmich

Spain: De Gea; Carvajal, Pique, Ramos, Alba; Thiago, Koke, Iniesta; Silva, Rodrigo, Isco
