How Germany could line up against Hungary

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann is expected to put out an unchanged lineup for Wednesday's Euro 2024 Group A showdown with Hungary in Stuttgart.

Die Mannschaft recorded the biggest-ever opening win at the men's Euros with a 5-1 demolition job of Scotland in Friday's contest, where the goals were shared around with five different scorers.

As such, Germany will be guaranteed a top-two finish and spot in the knockouts should they prevail on Wednesday, and Nagelsmann is expected to have every single one of his troops available to him.

There was some concern over Ilkay Gundogan after the Barcelona midfielder felt the full force of Ryan Porteous's studs - a challenge that the Scotland man was sent off for - but he thankfully emerged unscathed.

As a result, Gundogan will play the conductor's role in the number 10 slot in between two of Friday's goalscorers, 21-year-old pair Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, the latter of whom is now the youngest man to ever score a Euros goal for Germany.

Despite Niclas Fullkrug's second-half rocket off the bench, Kai Havertz - scorer of one and provider of another on Friday - should continue up front, with Toni Kroos and Robert Andrich, one booking away from a ban, occupying the deeper midfield positions.

Jonathan Tah is also at risk of missing the final group game versus Switzerland if he is cautioned in midweek, but a suspension in that fixture would arguably be more desirable if Germany qualify on Wednesday, and the Bayer Leverkusen man will no doubt join Joshua Kimmich, Manuel Neuer, Antonio Rudiger and Maximilian Mittelstadt in an identical backline.

Germany possible starting lineup: Neuer; Kimmich, Tah, Rudiger, Mittelstadt; Andrich, Kroos; Musiala, Gundogan, Wirtz; Havertz
