Meulensteen 'has not been sacked'

Rene Meulensteen reportedly remains contracted to Fulham despite club owner Shahid Khan bringing in Felix Magath as first-team manager.

Meulensteen claimed on Friday that he has been released by chief executive Alistair Mackintosh after just 75 days in charge in his role as head coach.

However, Fulham reportedly expect the ex-Manchester United coach to report for duty on Sunday when Magath officially begins his tenure, in a supporting role to the former Bayern Munich manager.

A source close to the Dutchman has told the The Telegraph that it is very unlikely to happen, and that Meulensteen is almost certain to leave the club after seeking clarification on his situation.

Technical director Alan Curbishley's future at Cravan Cottage is also believed to be in doubt after it emerged that he was not consulted about Magath's appointment on Friday evening.
