Martin Jol says that Fulham can "count their blessings", despite not definitely being safe from relegation.

Fulham manager Martin Jol has admitted that the club can "count their blessings" despite an outside chance that they could still be relegated.

The Cottagers were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool this afternoon, but remain five points clear of the relegation zone.

Jol says that while they're not definitely safe, the club can relax somewhat, knowing that they are on 40 points.

"Sometimes, I feel that we should count our blessings," Jol said afterwards.

"We always knew that with the last seven or eight games, Everton away, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, could have been a heavy schedule and it was. We are happy to be on 40 points."

Fulham end the season next week with a visit to Swansea City.
