Alloa Athletic's Scottish Championship status left hanging by a thread

Forfar Athletic win 3-1 against Alloa Athletic in the first leg of their Scottish Championship playoff clash at Station Park.

Michael Travis's goal deep into injury time has given Forfar Athletic a crucial 3-1 advantage heading into the second leg of their Scottish Championship playoff final tie against Alloa Athletic.

An horrendous error somewhat against the run of play gifted Omar Kader the game's opening goal, after Chris Templeman's initial effort was spilled by John Gibson, allowing the forward to smash home his fifth strike of the campaign.

Gibson was equal to Templeman's next shot which followed soon after, while Liam Buchanan saw his well-taken goal ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

It was the Sky Blues who claimed the second goal of the evening 10 minutes after the restart, courtesy of Templeman's header at the end of a Kerr Hay cross.

Forfar should have put the game out of sight when Gibson spilled once more, only for Ben Gordon to clear away a loose ball off the line.

Kyle Benedictus found the net eight minutes from time to give the Wasps a real lifeline in the contest heading into the return leg, but Travis powered home a header late on to give Forfar a huge advantage.
