Liverpool dealt Amrabat transfer blow by Fiorentina chief

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has warned teams away from attempting to sign Sofyan Amrabat amid links with a potential transfer to Liverpool.

The Reds were believed to be considering the 26-year-old as a possible option if they failed in their pursuit to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

There was a belief that the midfielder would command a transfer fee in the region of €30m (£25.7m), but Prade has stated that Fiorentina do not want to sell the Morocco international.

As quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina's sporting director said. "We are very happy with Sofy, we keep him close."

Amrabat has made 20 appearances for the Italian side across all competitions during the 2022-23 season, and his current contract is set to expire in June 2024, although Fiorentina have the option of extending that deal by a further year.

He has also played every minute of Morocco's World Cup campaign so far, and he is currently preparing for Tuesday's last-16 meeting with Spain.
