Fiorentina sack Vincenzo Montella

Fiorentina announce on their official website that they have parted company with head coach Vincenzo Montella.

Serie A outfit Fiorentina have announced that they have parted company with head coach Vincenzo Montella.

The 40-year-old had been in charge of the Tuscany club since 2012 and led them to fourth place finishes in each of his three seasons in charge as well as reaching the Coppa Italia final in 2014.

A statement on the official Fiorentina website read: "ACF Fiorentina have interpreted the recent behaviour of coach Vincenzo Montella as the clear desire to break from a contract legitimately signed two years ago.

"With great regret we must take note of the fact that there is no longer the relationship of trust necessary for the continuation of any relationship, and we are therefore forced - for the good of the club - to sack Vincenzo Montella.

"We would have expected clearer, more respectful and less ambitious behaviour from the coach, in respect of the shirt, the fans and the club which has given him so much."

Montella, who had a spell at Fulham as a player, has also managed Roma and Catania.
