Vitesse, Feyenoord play out stalemate

Vitesse and Feyenoord have played out a goalless draw in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at the GelreDome, with neither side able to truly benefit from a point each.

The game was uncohesive and scrappy in the early stages, with both sides probing forward but failing to threaten the opposition goals.

In the 24th minute, Feyenoord bore on goal when Jens Toornstra fired a shot, but failed to score, while Bertrand Traore had a chance ten minutes later for the opposition, but the effort missed.

Little improved after the break, with chances still at a premium and fouls breaking up the play, but Kelvin Leerdam did manage a shot at goal for the hosts in the 49th minute.

Jordy Clasie was next to threaten, this time for Feyenoord, but again the effort failed to trouble the opposition goalkeeper.

With both sides failing to get into the higher gears for the majority of the game, it was little surprise that the final whistle confirmed a 0-0 draw.

Vitesse climb to 11th in the league table, while Feyenoord move to fourth.
