Twente were dumped out of the Europa Conference League playoffs following a 0-0 stalemate against Fiorentina at De Grolsch Veste on Thursday.

Trailing 2-1 from last week's first leg, Ron Jans's men needed a victory to stand any chance of going through to the sophomore edition of Europe's newest club tournament but they were unable to find the breakthrough.

Prior to that, the Tukkers eased past the threat of Fortuna Sittard in a routine 2-0 win to maintain their 100% start to the new Eredivisie campaign.

Awaiting the Enschede-based side next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who have lost each of the last four meetings between the teams.

Following an opening-day share of the spoils, FC Volendam suffered a comprehensive 4-1 defeat at the hands of NEC Nijmegen when the sides locked horns two Fridays ago.

Wim Jonk's men took the lead through Daryl van Mieghem before goals from Elayis Tavsan, Oussama Tannane, Mikkel Duelund and Jordy Bruijn turned the game on its head.

Team News

Twenty-two-year-old Achraf Douiri remains ruled out of action with a hamstring injury and will not play any part for Volendam on Sunday.

The duo of Calvin Twigt and Oskar Buur are currently down with knee problems, while Josh Flint misses out through a muscle injury.

Wout Brama was fit enough to be named on the bench in Twente's midweek outing but it remains to be seen whether the Dutchman will feature in this one.

Thijs van Leeuwen and Casper Staring are also unavailable for the away side as they continue to battle with ankle and knee injuries respectively.
