Exeter City chairman Ed Chorlton resigns

Exeter City chairman Ed Chorlton OBE resigns with immediate effect.

Ed Chorlton OBE has resigned as Exeter City chairman with immediate effect, the club have confirmed.

Chorlton stands down as chairman after four-and-a-half years with the club.

A brief statement on the club's official reads: "Mr Chorlton wishes Exeter City AFC well in the future. He says the Club has a professional Board of Directors, an outstanding manager, a very talented young team, and a group of hard working staff."

Chorlton resigned after the Supporters' Trust, the majority shareholder of the club, had placed a vote of no confidence in him at its recent board meeting.

Chorlton joined Exeter in December 2009.
