Everton have reportedly identified Mainz 05 midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin as a potential summer signing.
The Toffees have already added Fabian Delph to their first-team squad this summer, although the likely exit of Idrissa Gueye means that Marco Silva must find another central midfielder ahead of the new campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton have made contact with Mainz, a claim which has been backed up by the Ivory Coast international's representative.
Bernard Collignon told Le Parisien: "He is excited about the possibility of joining Everton. Discovering the Premier League at a team at the top of table would be a great opportunity for him and represent a great next step."
The 23-year-old, who can play in defence or midfield, made 31 outings in the Bundesliga during the most recent campaign.
