Everton 'join race for Townsend'

Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend.

The Blues, who attempted to take the England international on loan last summer, face competition from Newcastle United for his services, according to The Mirror.

Townsend fell down the pecking order at White Hart Lane last season, with Aaron Lennon and Erik Lamela preferred by recently-ousted manager Tim Sherwood.

Everton have also been linked summer moves for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy and Swansea City forward Wilfried Bony.
