Everton boss Roberto Martinez: 'It has not been a perfect start to the season'

Roberto Martinez concedes that Everton have not had the "perfect" start to their season, but believes that it has been "exciting".

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has conceded that the Toffees have not had the best start to their season, but believes that it has been an "exciting" one.

The Merseyside outfit have drawn their first three games of the campaign, but managed to get the club's first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday.

"All in all I would say it's been an exciting start," the Liverpool Echo quotes Martinez as saying.

"I would not say it's been a perfect start because the team clearly is still developing and we need to get better in many things, but it's exciting when you have character and the attributes of a winning mentality. I think the senior players were magnificent on Saturday in that respect."

Everton currently sit ninth in the Premier League table with six points.
