Everton captain Phil Jagielka believes that the current squad is looking stronger than ever.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka has claimed that the current squad is the strongest that it has been "for a while".

The Toffees, who have added four new faces to their ranks this summer, are currently preparing to fly out to the USA to take part in the International Champions Cup.

"This is the strongest squad we've had for pre-season for a while," Jagielka told the club's official website.

"Normally it's been interrupted and we've only had 12, 13 or 14 players but the manager has got probably 16 to 18 players plus a few of the younger lads on the periphery as well."

Everton start the International Champions Cup against Italian champions Juventus in San Francisco on Wednesday.
