Aston Villa slipped to their 10th Premier League defeat of the season after losing 4-0 against Everton this afternoon.
The Toffees raced into a three-goal lead by half time, with Ross Barkley grabbing a double and Romelu Lukaku heading in from Seamus Coleman's cross.
Lukaku then scored his ninth league goal of the season in the second half to complete the rout and ensure the Villans remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

Was the result fair?
There can be no doubt that Everton deserved to claim the points after a fine display this afternoon. Roberto Martinez's side were in complete control from the kickoff and they made their dominance count. As for Villa, it was another poor defensive showing and a tough fight against relegation is firmly on the cards for Remi Garde and his players.
Everton's performance
The Toffees have struggled to find top form on numerous occasions this season, but they produced a fine team performance to blow Villa way. Gerard Deulofeu was a frequent menace down the right, while Barkley constantly found space to exploit in the midfield and was well placed to score his two goals. Lukaku was another who impressed throughout for the home side, and the visiting defence had no response to his strength and pace in the final third.
Aston Villa's performance
It was another miserable afternoon for Villa, who saw their winless run in the top flight stretch to a 12th match. They attempted to sit back and soak up pressure from their opponents, but once Barkley scored their gameplan went out the window. Their attempts to push forward after falling behind saw them give Everton more space to exploit, and if it was not for a number of saves from Brad Guzan, the final result could have been far worse.

Gerard Deulofeu: There were plenty of fine displays from Everton this afternoon, with their goalscorers also on top form, but the Spaniard was the pick of the bunch. His saved effort led to Barkley scoring the first goal and he went on to play a huge part in all of the other efforts netted by the Toffees. If he keeps up his level of displays, then Barcelona may be interested in activating their buy-back option for him next summer.
Biggest gaffe
The defending from the visitors was shocking throughout the match, and blame can be placed for each of the goals they conceded. However, Everton got away with an error of their own at the start of the second half, as Tim Howard was quick to bail out Ramiro Funes Mori for a poor back pass that allowed Jordan Veretout to run through on goal.
Referee performance Michael Oliver will not have too many easier afternoons as the football did all of the talking at Goodison. He was not forced into handing out any bookings and the match was played in a good spirit by both teams.
What next?
Everton: The Toffees will return to Premier League action next Saturday with a visit to Bournemouth, before taking on Middlesbrough in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
Aston Villa: Garde will be hoping for his first win as Villa manager next weekend when his side play host to Watford.
