Preview: Everton Ladies vs. Tottenham Hotspur Ladies - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Everton Ladies and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Everton Ladies will look to end a four-game winless run in the Women's Super League when they play host to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies on Sunday.

Spurs, meanwhile, will have to pick themselves up after being thrashed 5-1 by North London rivals Arsenal last weekend.

Although Everton have failed to win their last four league games, three of those matches have finished all square, including their last two.

After playing out a goalless draw against basement side Leicester City, the Toffees faced their local rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park.

Gabby George gave Everton the lead in the 27th minute, but Katie Stengel restored parity before half time, and with neither side able to find a winner, the two Merseyside clubs had to be content with a point apiece.

The point kept Everton in sixth position, and they are well set to claim a top-half finish in Brian Sorensen's first season in charge.

With the Toffees desperate to return to winning ways, a meeting with Tottenham may present a prime opportunity to clinch all three points after thrashing Spurs 3-0 when the two sides met in December.

After being appointed interim boss following Rehanne Skinner's departure, Vicky Jepson began her time in charge with a narrow 1-0 win over Leicester.

However, Jepson's side were brought back down to earth in last Saturday's North London derby as they fell to a demoralising 5-1 home defeat.

Spurs still boast a healthy five-point cushion to the one and only relegation place, but they will be keen to extend that gap.

Tottenham will now head on their travels for Sunday's contest as they attempt to avoid a sixth consecutive away defeat in the WSL.

Having conceded at least two goals in four of their last five away league games, Spurs know that they need to improve defensively if they are to pick up points in their final three away fixtures.

Team News

Everton are expected to be without the services of Lucy Hope, who missed the 1-1 draw with Everton due to an Achilles injury.

Karen Holmgaard was also unavailable for the Merseyside derby, but Sorensen has indicated that she could feature in the matchday squad.

After dropping down to the bench last time out, Hanna Bennison could be recalled to the starting lineup.

As for the visitors, they are still unable to call upon long-term injury absentees Kyah Simon, Ellie Brazil and Ria Percival.

Jepson has confirmed that Shelina Zadorsky remains absent, while in more positive news, Jess Naz will be available for selection following a spell on the sidelines.

Mana Iwabuchi was ineligible to face her parent club in the North London derby last weekend, but she may feature in the starting XI on Sunday.

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Brosnan; Finnigan, Bjorn, Sevecke, George; Park, Wheeler, Bennison; Sorensen, Beever-Jones, Snoeijs

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Korpela; Neville, Turner, Bartrip, Harrop; Bizet, Summanen, James, Ayane; England, Iwabuchi

We say: Everton Ladies 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur Ladies

Everton have won four of the seven WSL meetings with Spurs, and after claiming a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture, we think that the Toffees will have the confidence to go and claim all three points on Sunday.
