Sergi Darder 'heading for Espanyol'

Lyon midfielder Sergi Darder will reportedly complete a season-long loan to Espanyol on Friday afternoon.

The 23-year-old joined Lyon from Malaga in 2015, and has made more than 50 league appearances for his French club over the last two seasons.

It is understood that the midfielder has been made surplus to requirements at the Groupama Stadium, however, and according to FootMercato, Espanyol have beaten a host of clubs to the loan signing of the anchorman.

Darder is a former Spain Under-21 international, making three appearances for his nation between 2013 and 2014.

Spanish clubs have until Friday night to complete transfers - 24 hours later than the English window closes.
