Daniel Sturridge misses England training session with thigh problem

England manager Roy Hodgson's injury concerns have not been calmed following the news that Daniel Sturridge missed today's training session.

The Liverpool striker, who played with a thigh injury during the Reds' 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, was absent this morning, prompting fears over his availability for Friday's World Cup qualifier against Moldova.

Despite not taking part in training, England staff are confident that he will overcome his thigh problem to start for the Three Lions, according to Sky Sports News.

Hodgson's attacking options were depleted when Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney was forced to pull out due to a head injury he suffered in training.

Steven Caulker was also absent from this morning's session.
