Wayne Rooney hails Andros Townsend's England debut

England international striker Wayne Rooney has hailed the debut of Andros Townsend for the Three Lions against Montenegro at Wembley on Friday.

The 22-year-old Tottenham Hotspur winger scored on his maiden cap for his country as Roy Hodgson's side won their World Cup qualifying Group H match 4-1.

It was some debut," Rooney told reporters. "In such a high-pressure game to perform like that was incredible."

England are currently at the top of the group with 19 points from nine matches.
