UK government contact Serbia officials over charges

The UK government have contacted Serbia officials for clarification over the charges that have been handed to two unnamed England Under-21 players.

According to Sky Sports News, the UK government believes that the Serbian government's investigation is "opaque" and that the charges have "caught them on the hop", while the names of the two England players have not been revealed.

England and Serbia players clashed at the final whistle of their Under-21 European Championship qualifier earlier this month.

Danny Rose revealed after the game that he had been racially abused but it is not yet known if Rose is one of the players charged by Serbian police.
