Daniel Sturridge expected to miss England friendly

Daniel Sturridge has emerged as a major injury doubt for England's friendly against Brazil on Wednesday.

The Liverpool striker suffered a thigh problem during Sunday's 2-2 draw at Manchester City in the Premier League.

"Daniel has a dead thigh and we will liaise with England," Reds boss Brendan Rodgers told BBC Sport. "I think he will struggle to make the friendly against Brazil."

Michael Carrick and Jermain Defoe have already pulled out of the match at Wembley Stadium.
