England interim boss Gareth Southgate calls on his side to build on their recent results when they host Spain at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night.

England interim boss Gareth Southgate has suggested that he will not make mass changes for his side's friendly with Spain as he looks to build on recent results.

Southgate has won two of his three games in temporary charge of the national team - including a 3-0 victory over Scotland on Friday night - and remaining unbeaten could lead to him being given the job on a full-time basis.

The Three Lions face a tough challenge when hosting Spain at Wembley Stadium, but Southgate has called on his players to build on their recent performances as they play their final fixture of 2016.

The 46-year-old told reporters: "There's any different number of ways we can approach the game. For me, it's an opportunity to build on the way we are playing. It's a great challenge in terms of the style of game.

"It's a game we have to get tactically right, the way we press and use the ball. We want to build on last few performances, which I think have improved the detail of how we want to play. I don't want to make loads of changes. If we don't keep some consistency then we are not building and are starting again almost."

Southgate announced on Monday that Jordan Henderson would captain the side after Wayne Rooney emerged as an injury doubt.
