Southend United's Phil Brown in line for England coaching role

Phil Brown in line for England coaching role?

Sam Allardyce is reportedly considering Southend United boss Phil Brown as part of his backroom team when it comes to naming his new England set-up next week.

The 57-year-old has previously worked with Allardyce at Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers and is open to becoming assistant manager of the Three Lions if selected by his close friend.

According to the Daily Mail, Brown could now join Sammy Lee and Paul Clement as forming part of the new-look England coaching staff as Allardyce aims to bring faces he can trust on board.

Brown rejected the chance to join Allardyce at Sunderland last year when instead remaining in charge of Southend, helping the club to a 15th-place finish in League One last time out.
