Roy Hodgson rules Jack Wilshere out of Under-21 duty

Hodgson rules Wilshere out of U21s

England coach Roy Hodgson has said that Jack Wilshere will not be considered for selection in the Under-21 European Championships in the summer.

The 65-year-old believes that the Arsenal star is now an established first-team player for the Three Lions and should not be picked for the tournament.

"It is not right to compare Jack with [Wilfried] Zaha, [Raheem] Sterling and [Jonjo] Shelvey, etc," Hsaid Hodgson.

"You have to give Wilshere the credit that he has established himself as a bona-fide first-team player.

"He will play against Ireland in May and come with us to Brazil after that."

Wilshere has six caps for England.
