Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson says the Premier League must introduce a winter break in order for the national side to win a major tournament.
The Swede led England to three quarter-finals in major competitions before stepping down in 2006.
"It's more difficult for England than other countries to do well in a big tournament," the 63-year-old said.
"You have to have a break. You need to give every Premier League player seven days to fly to wherever they want."
He added: "They can have sunshine, relax and then one week of preparation and then start again," he added.
Eriksson currently manages Championship side Leicester City, who begin the new season tomorrow away at Coventry City.
