Wenger feels "sorry" for England

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger thinks that England face a tough task of progressing past the Euro 2012 group stage, despite avoiding top seeds Spain and Holland.

The Three Lions were drawn in Group D alongside Ukraine, Sweden and Wenger's home nation France.

"Well, I must say I am sorry for England!" The Mirror quotes Wenger as saying. "It's interesting as England versus France is the first game. To me it looks like the difference between England and France will be how they do against the other two.

"What is very interesting is not only to get out, but also to come first as Spain could finish first in their group."

Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland were handed a tough draw as they are due to go head to head with Euro holders Spain.
