Uefa to consider Rooney case on Thursday

Uefa have confirmed that they will make a decision on whether to increase Wayne Rooney's one-match ban on Thursday.

The Man Utd striker was sent off during England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro on Friday for a post-challenge kick of defender Miodrag Dzudovic.

Rooney, 25, will now miss the first game of the tournament in Poland and Ukraine next year but could miss a further two games depending on how Uefa views the incident.

England manager Fabio Capello has dropped Rooney from the squad for next month's friendly with Spain in order to "test new players".
