Roy Hodgson: Steven Gerrard "one of the best players" at Euro 2012

England boss Roy Hodgson has said that captain Steven Gerrard has been one of the best players at Euro 2012.

Hodgson, who named Gerrard his captain after taking the England job last month, insists that the Liverpool skipper has been "fantastic" and not put a foot wrong since taking the armband.

"Steven has been fantastic ever since I was given the job," he told The Sun. "He hasn't put a foot wrong.

"He's playing like a captain should, as one of the best players in the tournament."

England take on Ukraine in their final group game next week.
