Rio Ferdinand wants spot in England team for Euros?

Ferdinand wants Euro 2012 call-up?

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is reportedly prepared to inform new England boss Roy Hodgson that he wants to be included in the squad for this summer's European Championships.

There have been doubts over the centre-back's and Chelsea captain John Terry's positions within the national side following the racism controversy regarding Ferdinand's brother, Anton.

It has been speculated that the Red Devils defender has fallen out with Terry, who will stand trial after the tournament on allegations of racially abusing the Queens Park Rangers centre-back.

It is understood that despite potential tension between the pair, Ferdinand is expected to tell Hodgson that he does not want to give up on his international career, according to The Express.

The West Bromwich Albion manager, who was appointed as Fabio Capello's permanent successor on Tuesday, will speak to both Ferdinand and Terry before making his squad selection.
