Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara positive despite fifth consecutive defeat

Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara claims that his team were the better side during their pre-season defeat to QPR.

Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara has claimed that his side did not deserve to lose their friendly to Queens Park Rangers.

The Scottish club suffered a fifth consecutive pre-season defeat on Wednesday as they went down 2-1 to the Championship team.

Despite an underwhelming summer for his team so far, McNamara insists that progress is being made.

"I have taken something from all our games so far, but to run a multi-million team like QPR so close is a real plus," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "Indeed I thought we were the better side and played the better football.

"Now hopefully we can take this performance into the Watford game on Saturday and [the start of the Scottish Premiership season] because we won't meet many teams of this quality back home."

Dundee start the new season at home to Aberdeen on August 2.
