Pavel Pogrebnyak fires Reading to victory

Pavel Pogrebnyak scored two late goals as Reading beat Doncaster Rovers 3-1 in their Championship match at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The hosts opened the scoring midway through the first half when Billy Sharp drove into the box and crossed for James Coppinger to finish from close range.

Sharp came close to a second for Doncaster minutes later, but he saw his header saved by Alex McCarthy.

After the break Reading were given the chance to equalise when Adam Le Fondre was brought down inside the box by Paul Quinn.

Le Fondre stepped up to take the resulting penalty and slotted his effort past Sam Johnstone.

They were close to scoring again soon after, but Le Fondre fired over from Garath McCleary's cross.

With four minutes left to play, the visitors took the lead when Pogrebnyak headed Jake Taylor's cross into the roof of the net from close range.

Pogrebnyak made sure of the points when he slotted in from Pearce's pass in stoppage time, as the Royals moved up to fifth in the table.
