Steve McClaren confirms Raul Albentosa interest

Derby County manager Steve McClaren has confirmed that the club is in talks to sign Eibar defender Raul Albentosa.

Recent reports in Spain had claimed that the 26-year-old would arrive at the iPro Stadium by the start of next week.

Speaking after his side's 1-0 win over Ipswich Town yesterday afternoon, McClaren revealed his interest in the centre-back, but stressed that he did not how close the deal was to being concluded.

"He is someone we have pursued and we are trying to do a deal. We are looking at him and we are interested, but I don't know where we are at the present moment with it," the Derby Telegraph quotes McClaren as saying.

It has been suggested that Albentosa will cost the Rams a fee in the region of £470,000.
