Patrick Bamford strike wins it for Derby County

Patrick Bamford's second-half strike wins it for Derby County against Sheffield Wednesday.

Derby County edged past Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the Championship at Hillsborough this evening.

Patrick Bamford gave the visitors the lead with 12 minutes remaining when he curled a long-range effort in off the crossbar for his 22nd goal of the season.

Earlier in the game, Jamie Ward fizzed in an effort on 12 minutes and Bamford was close to turning the cross-shot goalwards.

The two combined in similar fashion later on in the half, with the on-loan Chelsea man again unable to get on the end of the delivery from his teammate.

Derby had two long-range efforts in succession through Will Hughes and Chris Hughes moments after Craig Bryson had missed the target an effort for the Rams.

Michail Antonio was denied twice in few minutes by Derby stopper Lee Grant, before Bamford popped up with the winner.
