Derby County manager Steve McClaren has described this afternoon's 2-2 draw with Birmingham City as a "freak result".
Derby were 2-0 up at the 90-minute mark, but conceded twice in added time to miss out on the chance to go top of the Championship table.
"We only have ourselves to blame, we've thrown two points away. The game is 95 minutes not 91, 92 and you have to see it through," McClaren told reporters after the game.
"We didn't, we were a little naive and we got punished. It's a freak result but we can't blame anybody. I thought the referee was poor and there were some strange decisions but that's no excuse.
"When you are 2-0 up with two minutes to go you should see the game through but we didn't and there's a lot of anger going around. We have to temper that, calm down, get some reality into it but this will take a couple of days to get over."
Had Derby won, they would be two points clear at the top, but they are now one of four sides on 66 points with 10 games of the season remaining.
