Chris Baird to sit out two Derby County games

Rams skipper expected to miss two games

Derby County skipper Chris Baird has been ruled out of action for at least a week due to concussion.

The 33-year-old was stretchered off the field during the Rams' 2-1 win against Preston North End on Saturday following a clash of heads.

Paul Clement has now provided an update on Baird's condition, which is expected to see him sidelined for the next two games.

"Every day the doctor is checking on his symptoms," the Derby boss told reporters. "Every day he has to show he is symptom free, so it is a day-by-day process. We are hoping it is seven days, but it could be a little longer."

Derby take on Reading on Tuesday night before hosting Burnley at the iPro Stadium next weekend.
