Denmark's Christian Eriksen accuses the eliminated Holland squad of being over-confident heading into Euro 2012.

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen believes that Holland exited Euro 2012 at the group stage yesterday evening because they were too arrogant heading into the tournament.

Last night's 2-1 loss to Portugal ensured that the Dutch fell at the first hurdle without a single point to their name.

Reflecting on Holland's performance, Eriksen, who plays his club in the Netherlands with Ajax, has accused the squad of being overly confident prior to the event.

"I think we are all surprised that they are eliminated," said the 20-year-old. "They were in the World Cup final two years ago but they have probably been a bit too arrogant in the way they went into the tournament. That was at least the feeling you got when you were in the Netherlands.

"They thought they would win the whole tournament but then they started badly against us.

"I think they are going to get back to some pretty miffed Dutch people."

Eriksen's Denmark also suffered the same fate as Holland, having lost 2-1 to Germany on the same night.
