CSKA Moscow win Russian league title

CSKA Moscow secured their first Russian league title since 2006 thanks to a 0-0 draw with Kuban Krasnodar this afternoon.

The draw moved CSKA six points clear of nearest challengers Zenit St Petersburg, who despite having two matches left, cannot catch the Red and Blues because they have fewer victories.

Addressing supporters at the end of the match, coach Leonid Slutsky said: "This victory is for you because you have supported us the whole season.

Russian international midfielder Alan Dzagoev added: "This is my first title so it's hard to describe how I feel. I can't describe it. Just happiness. The only problem was that we couldn't score, although we came close several times."

CSKA have now won the league on 11 occasions.
