Palace beat Leicester to Campbell signing

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Fraizer Campbell from Cardiff City on a three-year deal.

Both the Eagles and Leicester City met the reported £900,000 buyout clause in the striker's contract that had been triggered by Cardiff's relegation to the Championship.

Campbell has opted for a move to Selhurst Park, where he will represent his fifth Premier League club following spells at Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and the Bluebirds.

The 26-year-old has scored 44 goals in 187 professional appearances and will compete with Marouane Chamakh, Glenn Murray and club-record purchase Dwight Gayle for a spot in the Palace side.

Campbell represents the first major signing of the summer for Tony Pulis, who had only previously acquired Scotland Under-21 international goalkeeper Chris Kettings on a free transfer.
