Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew left frustrated after Southampton defeat

Crystal Palace should have picked up a point against Southampton, says manager Alan Pardew.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he is disappointed with the goal his side conceded during their 1-0 loss to Southampton tonight.

Sadio Mane gave the Saints their first win in four games with an 83rd-minute strike, when he slotted the ball in after goalkeeper Julian Speroni spilled a James Ward-Prowse shot.

Pardew told BBC Sport: "In the first half Southampton were by far the better side in a game they had to win. Second half we were the better team and had two great chances. We also should have had a penalty and it is so disappointing we have let in a soft goal.

"Our keeper Julian Speroni is big enough to hold up his hand but we should have stopped it before it got anywhere near there. Jose Fonte is over aggressive on Yannick Bolasie and I think we should be given that."

Palace sit 12th in the Premier League table.
