Mile Jedinak determined to fight for Crystal Palace spot

Mile Jedinak insists that he will not give up his Crystal Palace place without a fight ahead of the new season.

Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak has insisted that he has no intention of giving up his midfield spot easily.

A promising finish to last season under Alan Pardew has been followed by a busy summer in the transfer market, with the arrival of Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain putting Jedinak's place in the side under threat.

However, the Australian insists that he will fight to prove he is worthy of regular opportunities this season after playing a key role for the club in each of the last two Premier League campaigns.

"With Cabaye coming in it's a massive deal for the club," the 30-year-old, who was linked with West Bromwich Albion earlier this summer, told reporters. "We all know his pedigree and what he has done in the Premier League, being an international player.

"There's always a fight for positions and that's the way it should be. Come game day is up to you to deliver and you go out there with your team mates well-wishes.

"I'm here now, and I think all of that is just talk. I don't take too much notice."

Palace kick off the new campaign against Norwich City on Saturday.
