Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke says that his side deserved their 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park.

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke has said that his side deserved their 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park this evening.

Benteke cancelled out compatriot Romelu Lukaku's opener on his return to Merseyside to secure a point for the Eagles, extending their unbeaten record in the Premier League to five matches.

Palace now sit just two points adrift of the top four, and Benteke was full of praise for the performance from his side.

"I think it is a fair result. It was a great performance from the lads. We fought hard and came back in the game," he told Sky Sports News.

"[My teammates] try to look where I am on the pitch. We try to do our job and hopefully we will keep it up. It is never easy to play Everton, especially at home but we showed great team spirit."

Benteke has now scored five goals in six Premier League appearances against Everton.
