Stimac sacked as Croatia coach

Igor Stimac has been sacked as coach of the Croatian national team.

The 46-year-old former Derby County and West Ham United defender took charge of the side in July 2012.

Stimac, who recently guided Croatia to the World Cup qualification playoffs, offered his resignation on Tuesday night following a 2-0 defeat to Scotland at Hampden Park.

He has now been relieved of his duties as coach by the Croatian Football Federation.

Niko Kovac has been confirmed as caretaker manager.
