Team News: Nine changes for England against Colombia

Nine changes for England against Colombia

England boss Gareth Southgate has made nine changes from the side which lost 1-0 to Belgium for this evening's World Cup last-16 clash with Colombia.

The Three Lions have reverted to the team which started in their opening group match against Tunisia, with captain Harry Kane returning to lead the attack.

Kane's Tottenham Hotspur teammate Dele Alli also returns to the fold following fitness concerns, and he will provide support for the England skipper along with Raheem Sterling and Jesse Lingard.

Jordan Pickford has retained his place in goal despite enduring criticism for his performance against Belgium, with the Everton stopper starting behind a back three of Kyle Walker, John Stones and Harry Maguire.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has also earned a recall, starting ahead of Eric Dier, who drops to the bench.

The big news from the Colombia camp is that James Rodriguez has been left out of the squad due to the injury he picked up in their final group match against Senegal.

Midfielder Wilmar Barrios has been drafted in to replace James, while former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao leads the attack.

The South Americans have made two changes overall, with Jefferson Lerma preferred to Mateus Uribe, who has been benched.

Colombia: Ospina; Arias, D. Sanchez, Mina, Mojica; Barrios, C. Sanchez; Cuadrado J. Lerma, J. Quintero; Falcao Subs: Zapata, Murillo, Bacca, Aguilar, Vargas, Muriel, Uribe, Diaz, Izquierdo, Jo Cuadrado

England: Pickford; Stones, Maguire, Walker; Trippier, Young, Lingard, Henderson; Dele, Sterling; Kane Subs: Rose, Dier, Vardy, Butland, Welbeck, Cahill, Jones, Rashford, Loftus-Cheek, Alexander-Arnold, Pope
