Teofilo Gutierrez delighted by Colombia support

Colombia striker Teofilo Gutierrez has praised fans for their overwhelming support during the country's 3-0 win over Greece at the World Cup.

Thousands of Colombian supporters filled the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte on Saturday to see their team ease past the Greeks in their opening match of the tournament.

Despite claiming that he was not surprised by the atmosphere created by Colombia's fans, Gutierrez admits that it provided an exciting backdrop to the encounter.

"I wasn't surprised by them," he told FIFA.com. "The Colombia fans have been waiting for this moment, and with it being so close I expected them to turn up in numbers. It was very exciting."

Colombia continue their campaign on Thursday when they meet Ivory Coast.
