Colchester United have signed Tottenham Hotspur defender Bongani Khumalo on loan until the end of the season.
The South Africa captain has previously had loan spells at Reading, Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End.
Khumalo was not in the U's squad for Saturday's League One game at Crawley Town, as Colchester are still waiting for international clearance.
The 28-year-old scored the winner for Bafana Bafana in their win over France in the 2010 World Cup finals.
