Barry Ferguson becomes player-coach

Former Blackpool boss Barry Ferguson has been appointed head coach of Scottish League Two outfit Clyde.

The 36-year-old took over at Blackpool on a temporary basis earlier this year, just about keeping the Tangerines in the Championship during the second half of last season.

He has been appointed as head coach at Clyde, but is also expected to play if necessary.

Chairman John Alexander told the club website: "He won us over with his vision for developing our squad and commitment to building on our existing youth policy, as he establishes himself as a manager in the Scottish game."

Ferguson has been replaced by former Charlton Athletic boss Jose Riga at Bloomfield Road.
