Villa "excited" for New York adventure

David Villa has revealed his delight after officially signing a long-term deal with New York City.

Spain's all-time leading scorer, who won La Liga with Atletico Madrid last season, has become the new MLS outfit's first official signing.

"So excited to be the first player in the history of @NYCFC! I'm ready for this new challenge," Villa tweeted.

The 32-year-old started his professional career with Sporting Gijon in 1999 and has since played for Real Zaragoza, Valencia and Barcelona during a well-travelled 15 years.

New York City, meanwhile, have also been strongly linked with a move for England international Frank Lampard, who is widely expected to leave Chelsea this summer.
