Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admits that his squad at Stamford Bridge is "too large" and that players will leave before the end of August.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has acknowledged that a number of players will leave Chelsea before the end of August.

The Blues have only made three high-profile additions this summer, but Sarri has been left with more than 25 players in his first-team squad.

European clubs are still able to make signings in the coming weeks, and Sarri has admitted that he is happy to trim his options at Stamford Bridge.

At a press conference, Sarri told reporters: "Now I think the squad is too large. Some players have to go on loan. I don't know who at the moment. I prefer to have 23, 24 players and three or four very young players. No more."

Sarri was speaking before Michy Batshuayi made a loan switch to Valencia, and Kurt Zouma completed his temporary move to Everton.
